Neighbors Mercantile is a family-owned general store in downtown Nappanee, Indiana. We stock the same everyday goods we use in our own homes, inside a hardware store we brought back to life.
A Hardware Store With a Second Chapter
Long before the doors opened, we would look across the street from our roasting room at Main Street Roasters at the quiet, empty hardware store and imagine it full of life again: lights on, doors open, and rocking chairs out front to welcome folks in.
Years later, we bought the old Martin Hardware building and spent nearly three years renovating it. We named it Neighbors because we wanted it to belong to the whole town.
People ask why a family in foodservice opened a general store. The answer is simple: we love our town. Stop in, then cross the street to Main Street Roasters, our coffee house for over 20 years.
